12 miler with horses, hawk(or a falcon) and an update
Posted in: Training by Stephen on February 25, 2009
Ran the Falcon Trail at the Air force Academy….and was it TOUGH. Gnarly singletrack with a bunch of hills. In fact, I know that I ran 2 miles up a hill, 1/2 way into the run. Anyway, I had to walk the last mile or so. Just too much for an old guy like me. But I got 10 miles in anyway. And what a beautiful day in Colorado.
LONG Run(and an airplane)
Posted in: Training by Stephen on February 19, 2009
I ran the longest training run so far, today. Over 12 miles. Felt pretty good except my heel is still bugging me some. Just got to “toughen” it up, I guess. Just for fun, follow the route in the map route below and look for the airplane around mile marker 5. Pretty COOL! (Go to go the “hybrid view” on the right hand side of the map, and zoom in) .

BTW… I haven’t been posting stuff lately due to the fact that school has become VERY intense. The training is still going on, but the posting is down the list in priorities. I do, however, still expect to keep the updates coming, so keep checking in. Thanks!
12miler and heel
Posted in: Training by Stephen on February 12, 2009
Ran 12 miles yesterday, and felt great. My heel was feeling better until 1/2 way into the run, and I got some sort of a cramp in it. Let me tell you , a cramp in your heel is no fun thing. Anyway, I will have to go back to the Chiro to get it fixed.
Day off in Cripple Creek
Posted in: video by Stephen on February 08, 2009
We took a day off and drove to Cripple Creek to the Ice Festival. Our neighbor was also playing in a band at a casino, so we hung out with Cindee and watched Phil play.
My brother was telling me about a chiropractor in Iowa that was a miracle worker, and used something called ART. So I looked it up on the internet, and found out that the founder of ART has his office here in Colorado Springs. So I went to him last year, and I was blown away. For one thing, his office complex is 10 times bigger than my house. And my one visit with him cleared up a neck problem I was having for years.
Anyway, I went to my medical doctor the other day complaining about my heel spur, and he worked on my foot using ART. He is such a believer, that he went through the training(he is a D.O.) and is certified to do it. And it already feels much better. The following is a video from the founder of ART, Mike Leahy. His story is incredible, and it is discussed HERE. This guy treats a bunch of world class athletes, PGA golfers and is always on the sideline of Bronco games treating the players during the game. There is, apparently over 4000 providers of ART around he world now, so if you get a chance to get treated by a provider, DO IT! The ART website is HERE
Me and pooch on Wed.
Posted in: Training by Stephen on February 06, 2009
I took pooch again last Wednesday, and she did not do very well. I had to almost drag her the last 2 miles, so not more runs for her unless it is really cold out. We ran up Delmonico next to the mountains. See pictures.
Tough day of training
Posted in: Training by Stephen on February 05, 2009
Today was a tough day of training. Because of the BEAUTIFUL weather, me and Larry had to play golf. Ok, at least we walked. Actually, I ran 5 miles yesterday and felt great! Still got a long way to go before getting up to 26 miles, but I am getting there.
Me and the little woman joined Gold’s gym here in town. An awesome place with hundreds of treadmills and stuff. Even a “theater room”, with treadmills in a darkened movie theater, where you run and watch movies. Should be a great place to keep up the training until the weather improves out here.
