I haven’t updated much, as we have been very busy. I had a research paper due in Advanced Hermeneutics, and it took quite a bit of time. I have been running (if that is what you call it on an eliptical machine), however, and it is a great workout. It is a great workout when you turn the resistance up to 10 and grind away for an hour. It must be a good workout, as I get my pulse up to my normal running rate(135) and the machine shows that I have burned almost 1000 calories when I get done.
The heel is still hurting. I really think that there is an injury there somewhere, but am hoping that staying off of it on the eliptical will allow it to heal. Got to get better, as the Colorado Marathon is coming up in May, and I am signed up for the 1/2 marathon.
The weather here in Colorado turns snowy in March, and this year is no exception. It is pretty , but not good for running outside, especially with all the hills here in town. Pretty soon it will be perfect weather for running and my heel will be healed. Then time to “kick butt”!
Letter from Ricardo
Posted in: Compassion by Stephen on March 24, 2009
I got to visit with Ricardo last spring, when volunteering as a photographer for Compassion in El Salvador. We ended up sponsoring him, and he really is a sweet kid. He lives in a real bad part of the country. But the Compassion center is the shining light of the town. We just got this letter from Ricardo yesterday.
1/2 way there

Well, I just noticed my countdown on the left hand side of the blog, and it says I stated 6 months 6 days ago, and now have 6 months and 4 days left. Yikes! So how is it going?
- My heel is still bugging me. Was doing better, but I must have reinjured it. Starting to use lots of ice, ibuprofen and REST.
- The rest thing is not good, as I have a half marathon coming up in May.
- I was ahead of schedule, so maybe a rest will be OK, we will see.
- I am in the market for another pair of shoes. You wear those things out fast when running a bunch.
- I haven’t lost very much weight yet, as I have been eating a lot of stuff (ice cream especially…Yes!)
- It has been a great winter to train. Weather has been good, and it should be summer here soon.
Another tough training day on the links

I have been doing the epliptical alot due to that heel issue. Still bugging me, but maybe if I do low impact heel stuff for a while, it will resolve itself. I also had a tough day training on the links today too. Another beautiful day here in Colorado. Do you like my pink ball?
Florida golf, birds and a baseball game
Posted in: Uncategorized by Stephen on March 10, 2009
Got to visit the folks in Florida. Me, Kurt and Dad played Pine Barrens on Thursday. Me and Kurt played Tarpon Springs on Saturday and me and Dad played Seven Springs on Monday. Seven Springs was BRUTAL. It was a water park with some greens here and there. Lost lots of balls. Me and dad got to see the Reds and Phillies play on Tuesday, also.
