About me
Posted in: Uncategorized by admin on September 17, 2008
Well, my biggest adventure is to live fully for the glory of God. Now, when I start living for myself, that is when it starts to not be fun any more. With that aside, this particular adventure will be quite a challenge. Although certainly not a long distance runner, I have run a few smaller races in the past. Mostly 5-10k’s, and a 1/2 marathon a couple of years ago in St Louis. But nothing like a full marathon. And you know, I am not getting any younger:).
But I believe that this is a “God thing”, and He will be with me in the training. This may sound funny to some of you,but I usually pray before a big training run, for Him to help me and not let me die of a heart attack. You know, when you get to be 53, you think of such things.
By the way, the picture above is me a couple of years ago after running the Boulder Bolder. Kind of neat run. We finished inside of the big football stadium in town. The run was remarkable due to the tens of thousands of folks running…wow. And they used my 1/2 marathon time to put me in a wave in front. I had to run with all the REAL runners. Yikes!
Anyway, I am planning on training for the Quad Cities Marathon in Sept of 2009. It is in my hometown, and will be a beautiful race. We cross over a bunch of bridges over the Mississippi and Rock River. The website is HERE.
Thanks for your pledge !!
