Golf at the Air Force Academy

OK…it’s rough, but someone has to do it.  Payton and I golfing today at the Air Force Academy.

Shooting for another marathon

Well, I am now training for the American Discovery Trail Marathon.  Started the countdown in the left hand column.  We will see how my foot does.  I can tell you one thing so far…..I am getting old.  Bouncing back is not as easy as it used to be.  We will seee.

Bikes and an update

Sorry that I have not posted much lately, but this has been a crazy busy time.  I have, however, been doing a lot of biking in my quest to stay in shape.  Starting next month, I will start running again in preparation for the Disney Marathon.  We will see how the heel does.      [...]

Biking

Not much to post other than I am biking alot…letting my heel get better.  I ride my bike to work almost every night.  It is 4 miles to work and NOTHING is level in this town, it is all up and down.  So it is a good work out, and I am keeping some fitness [...]

Training run, nothing is flat

Ran throughout the neighborhoods close to the house.  Nothing is flat out here.  This route gains 400 feet before FINALLY coming back downhill.   A nice 5 miler with a trail thrown in.  The weather is perfect for running right now.  Very cool in the mornings and still moderate in the afternoons with no humidity.  Looks [...]

Liquid sunshine 8 miler

Ran 7.6 miles from Compassion to the house.  Foot is feeling really good…maybe this thing in September might happen after all.  Another BEAUTIFUL run through the Air Force Academy with all the wildflowers out.  It was sprinkling on and off with the sun out…..Colorado “liquid sunshine”.  All in all a perfect night to run.   Route [...]

Test

Took pooch for another 2 miler, and I felt so good that it turned into a 5 miler.  Poor Lucy almost had a heart attack though, and I had to almost drag her the last mile or two.  The heel feels pretty good, but we will see what tomorrow brings.  Time to ice it down [...]

Ankle

This blog must be looking like a medical report lately, but that is what is going on, so I have to go with it.  Anyway, I ran a couple more miles on the treadmill last night and have been pushing it pretty hard.  My heel is hanging in there, but my ankle is freaking out.  [...]

Rain, sun and thunder

Ran 3 miles in the rain today.  The sun was out the whole time and it THUNDERED a bunch.  That  is Colorado for you.  In all the time we have lived here, I have never seen it so green as it is now.  And there is still a bunch of snow on Pikes Peak.  So [...]

I am back

Ok folks, so far so good for the heel.  Almost no pain after 2-2mile days.  AWESOME!  Pooch is a different story, however, as she is out of shape and can barely run 2 miles at a time.  Cannot wait to push myself farther and see how the foot does.  I talked to an olympic trainer [...]

Starting over

Me and pooch went for a 2 miler this afternoon.  I was a little winded, and have lost quite a bit of fitness.  Pooch was exhausted. . But the foot felt pretty good, and it is on ice right now.  We will see how it feels tomorrow.

Family stuff

Training is taking a back seat to family issues right now.  Still on track, however, for the marathon.  Details to follow.
